NHA plays the lead role in advocating for increased funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities, the largest single source of support for the humanities in the United States. In addition to NEH, the Alliance monitors and advocates on behalf of funding for the humanities throughout the federal government, including the Department of Education, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Library of Congress, and the National Archives and Records Administration. NHA is also concerned with policy issues that arise beyond funding, such as intellectual property legislation as it impacts scholarly communication, and federal data collection in the humanities.
