December 7, 2009 - The U.S. Department of Education will hold a stakeholders forum on College- and Career-Ready Graduates on December 8, 2009 at 2:00pm in Washington, DC. Featured panelists for this forum will include: Michele Cahill, Vice President for National Programs and Program Director for Urban Education, Carnegie Corporation; Marc Morial, President and CEO, National Urban League; Dr. Eduardo Padron, President, Miami Dade College; and Kathy Havens Payne, Senior Director of Education Leadership, State Farm.
Past Education Stakeholder Forum topics have included Educating Diverse Learners (November 20), Measuring Progress and Creating Continuous Systems of Improvement (November 4), Promoting Innovation and Reinventing the Federal Role (October 21), Great Teachers and Leaders (October 13), Information Regarding Race to the Top Fund, Investing in Innovation Fund, and Part II of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund (August 4).
The first forum took place on June 18 at the Department's headquarters in Washington, DC. The stated purpose of the forums is to to share updates and information on important education issues, with the goal of enabling Department staff to communicate directly with representatives of schools, organizations, state and local governments, and other interested parties who guide and support the work of schools.
