Google Awards Digital Humanities Grants

12 projects receive awards

July 28, 2010 – Google announced this month the first recipients of its Digital Humanities Research Awards. These awards, totaling $479,000, will support twelve projects led by twenty-three researchers at fifteen universities. The unrestricted grants are for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. According to the Official Google Blog, researchers will receive, “some access to Google tools, technologies, and expertise.” Google states that it has committed nearly a million dollars to digital humanities research for the next two years.
