May 11, 2010 – The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is currently accepting nominations for the 2010 National Humanities Medals. The annual awards, conferred by the President of the United States, recognize individuals and organizations that have enhanced Americans’ understanding of and engagement with the humanities. NEH established the award in 1997 as the successor to the Charles Frankel Prize in the Humanities, which was awarded from 1989 to 1996. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 28, 2010.
