National Historical Publications & Records Commission Awards $7 million in Grants

Documentary editing and archival projects to receive support

June 30, 2010 – At its spring meeting, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) awarded 88 grants totaling $7,038,063 for projects in 36 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Established by Congress in 1934, the 15-member body is chaired by the Archivist of the United States and includes representatives from the three branches of government, as well as archivists, historians, documentary editors, and records administrators. Grants were awarded in the following categories:
