NHA Submits Written Testimony in Support of Increased FY2010 Funding for NEH

The National Humanities Alliance is urging Congress to provide NEH with at least $230 million

The National Humanities Alliance submitted written testimony this week to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.  NHA urges Congress to provide the National Endowment for the Humanities with at least $230 million in fiscal year 2010, including: $50 million for competitive grant programs and $25 million for operating grants to state humanities councils.  This funding level would represent a $75 million increase over the fiscal year 2009 enacted level, and would allow NEH to meet significant unmet needs at both the federal and state levels.

A public witness hearing for NEH and other issues within the Subcommittee's jurisdiction is currently scheduled for April 23, 2009 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in B-308 RHOB.
