Register Now for Upcoming NHA Annual Meeting & Humanities Advocacy Day

UPDATE • February 29, 2012:  The deadline to register has been extended through Monday, March 5.  Additional hotel accommodations are also now available at the River Inn for $199/night.  Please call the hotel's reservation line at (888)874-0100 and request the National Humanities Alliance group rate.  This offer is available through Friday, March 2.

February 8, 2012 - There is still time to register for the National Humanities Alliance's 2012 Annual Meeting & Humanities Advocacy Day.  The Alliance's spring meeting provides a unique opportunity to help make the case for the humanities and connect with a growing network of humanities advocates from around the country.  Highlights of this year's preliminary program include:

Sunday, March 18 - Pre-Meeting Activities
One Washington Circle Hotel

  • Humanities Grants Overview: NEH, NHPRC, IMLS, Dept. of Ed. (4:00-6:00pm)
  • Advocacy Training (7:00-8:30pm)

Monday, March 19 - Annual Meeting (8:15am-4:30pm)
The George Washington University Marvin Center

  • Annual Membership Business Meeting
  • Lightning Round Presentations: Illustrating the Value of Humanities Research
  • Panel Discussion: The Role of the Humanities in Undergraduate Education
  • Keynote Address with Duke University President Richard H. Brodhead
  • Policy Briefing: Federal Funding Overview and Election Year Outlook
  • Humanities Advocacy Day Group Preparation

Monday, March 19 - Evening Reception (5:30-7:30pm)
Rayburn House Office Building

  • Capitol Hill Evening Reception with Special Guest Jim Leach, Chairman, National Endowment for the Humanities

Tuesday, March 20 - Humanities Advocacy Day (9:00am-5:00pm)
Capitol Hill

  • Congressional Office Visits
  • Humanities Advocacy Day Debriefing

The final event registration deadline is March 1 and the fee to attend is $100.  A block of rooms has been reserved at the One Washington Circle Hotel at the discounted rate of $194/night.  The deadline to reserve a hotel room at the block rate is February 16.   Availability is limited.
