May 20, 2010 – Twenty Senators joined Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) in submitting a 'Dear Colleague Letter' in support of increased funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities this week. The letter requests total funding of $232.5 million for NEH in FY 2011, including $144 million for NEH National Programs and $60 million for the NEH Federal/State Partnership (a $65 million increase over the FY 2010 enacted level).
Humanities advocates from across the country made phone calls and sent emails to their Senators asking them to show their support for the humanities by signing-on to this letter.
The final letter, addressed to Appropriations Committee Chairman Inouye and Vice Chair Cochran, as well as, Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Feinstein, and Ranking Member Alexander, is available here (pdf).
