Update March 25, 2019: As of Monday, March 25 at 10 am, there are 151 signers on the NEH Dear Colleague Letter. That's 22 up from Friday morning, thank you for all of your advocacy! We are just 16 signers away from surpassing last year's total of 166 signers. Check the list to see if your Member has signed on. If they haven't, there is still time for them to do so.
March 22, 2019: Rep. David Price (D-NC) is circulating a letter requesting $167.5 million for the NEH in FY 2020 and asking all other representatives to sign on. The deadline is this coming Tuesday, March 26.
We have a list of all of the representatives who have signed on to the letter so far. The running total is 129 signers (as of this writing). Last year, we got 166 signers. There is still time to close the gap!
What you can do:
How to call?
Simply google “[your representative’s name] DC office” and call the phone number listed. When they answer, you can say: “I noticed that Rep. __________ is not one of the representatives that have signed on to Representative David Price’s letter requesting increased funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities and I would like to request that Rep. ___________ signs on.”
If you want additional talking points about the NEH, here are some suggestions:
- Have you received an NEH grant or participated in or attended an NEH funded project? Share your experience!
- NEH supports veterans and their families in the transition back to civilian life and promotes public understanding of the military experience for all Americans.
- NEH supports professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers across the country, reaching 11,000 teachers in the past 5 years.
- NEH-supported humanities councils provide continuing education and family literacy programs in every state in the country.
We will update the list of signers as we go, so check back to see if your representative has added their name!
